Meet Less, Communicate More with Josh Little

Or wherever you get your podcasts

Some words that may resonate from your favorite millennial or Gen Z: “ I don’t answer my phone. Don’t call me. Don’t leave a message. Thanks, byeee” 👋📞”

Asynchronous communication is king, it’s how we stay in a productive state. I’d rather watch a video message from you, have time to think about it, and get back to you with a thoughtful response. There are tons of ways you can reach me now and I’m always on…on my terms.

Let me introduce you to Josh Little, the CEO of Volley, a new way to move work forward with conversations that don't involve time or place using asynchronous video. Josh is on a mission to help us have productive conversations without interrupting productivity at work.

My favorite part of this conversation is when Josh states that the future of work is only going to be more flexible and distributed. It’s here to stay and it’s driven by the employee.

The big takeaway: The most talented people will flock to flexibility. It’s our job to give them diverse ways of communicating that meet the needs of the team and facilitate deep, meaningful conversations with context.

If you’ve ever experienced Zoom fatigue (haven’t we all at this point?), stop and ask, “why does this have to be a ‘synchronous’ meeting? Can’t you just send me a video chat that I can review during the day?” Let’s agree to meet less and communicate more.

Josh is doing a foundational work to keep communication fun and engaging. Reach out to him on Volley when you have a minute…just don’t call him on the phone either.
